Quality elementary education key to shaping students’ career: Naeem Akhtar
Attends 38th annual day function of Himalayan Group of Colleges
RAJOURI FEBRUARY 20: Minister for Public Works Department Naeem Akhtar today said education imparted at early stages is pivotal and plays an indispensable role in shaping the future careers of students. “Learning at the early stage builds a stronger base on which future endeavors in education can be built,” he added.
The Minister was addressing a gathering of educationists, academicians, journalists and students at 38th annual day celebrations of Himalayan Group of Colleges under the aegis of Himalayan Education Mission Society, an organization devoted to socio-educational, enviro-cultural and scientific awareness in Pir Panjal region for more than 25 years.
VC BGSBU Prof. Javaid Mussarat, Vice Chairman Pahari Advisory Board Kuldeep Raj Gupta, DDC Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Addl DDC A S Chib, Principal PG College Rajouri Prof. Javaid Qazi, Addl SP Mohd Yousuf, CEO Lal Hussain, Founding Patron of HEM Society Farooq Muztar, Nisar Rahi, Salim Wani, Muslim Wani and Principal Rauf Dar among journalists, academicians and students were present on the occasion.
The Minister said that education in early years should be accompanied with inculcation of values and principles among the young children. Establishing knowledge-based society should go hand in hand with imparting education that is infused with the spirit of humanism and humanistic values, he added.
Addressing the students Naeem Akhtar asked them to be forthcoming and strive for excellence in education. He asked them to work hard to achieve their goals and said that only those who work with honesty, dedication, efficiency and vision for progress, leave a mark on the society. He impressed upon them to capitalize on the resources and make most of their times, energies and mental capacities.
Congratulating the management for its unparalleled contribution in the field of education, the Minister appreciated the efforts of HEM Society for being a frontrunner in providing quality education to the students and encouraging them to take up research activities.
The Annual Day also saw felicitation of recently selected KAS officers including Anjum Khan Khattak, Azhar Amin, Abrar Mirza and Sumit Suri apart from felicitation of meritorious students of various classes and their parents.
On the occasion, Farooq Muztar handed over cheque of Rs 10 Lakh to Registrar BGSBU Prof. Iqbal Parvaiz for establishment of Center for Peace and Objective Studies to promote peace in South Asia.
Himalayan Group of colleges also conferred Pride of Pir Panjal award for Best Administrative Practices to Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary DDC Rajouri, Sir Syed Excellence award for promotion of scientific temperament to Prof Javaid Mussarat, VC BGSBU and Sir Syed Excellence award for constructive journalism, peace building and socio-literary activities posthumously to Vaid Bhasim, editor of Kashmir Times.
Skits, cultural programmes and dramas reflecting themes of peace, communal harmony, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao and road safety were also presented by the students.
