RAJOURI, JULY 20: District Development Commissioner Mohammad Aijaz Asad today reviewed and finalized arrangements for smooth conduct of Budha Amarnath Yatra commencing from August 17, here at a meeting of officers and representatives of religious organisations.
The meeting had a detailed deliberation on the arrangements for smooth and successful conduct of yatra. All the officers were asked to ensure that arrangements relating to their respective departments are put in place well in time.
Arrangements like adequate supply of drinking water, cleanliness of the venue, construction of temporary sheds for community kitchens and langars, ration and LPG supply, security arrangements, transport arrangements, maintenance of road, fire extinguishers, medical facilities etc were deliberated upon in detail and the concerned officers were asked to ensure all these facilities well before commencement of the yatra.
A traffic management plan was discussed for hassle free movement of Yatris enroute from Sunderbani to Bhimber Gali. It was decided that sufficient number of traffic cops and recovery vans will be deployed at Sunderbani and Rajouri to check wrong parking of vehicles.
For the security of yatris, cut off time was fixed beyond which no vehicle of yatris will be allowed to move towards Poonch.
As thousands of Yatris are expected to visit Budha Amarnath from within and outside the State, the DDC directed the officers of Tourism, Handicrafts, Handlooms, Horticulture and Agriculture Departments to put up stalls for showcasing local tourist destination and products.
